In 2015 Greenfield School submitted an application to the Arts Council for Wales to participate in the Lead Creative School initiative. Our first project ran from 2015 - 2016 and focused upon story writing which was then animated into a sequence of short films. The pupils developed not only writing skills but also learned how to animate.
In this second year of involvement our KS3 pupils wanted to establish a link with a school in another country. Through friends of teaching colleagues, a school in Chilli was identified and eager to participate in this exciting project. Our students also wanted to make a series of short films depicting life in Merthyr Tydfil. The students needed to appoint two Creative Practitioners to develop their skills and interviews were held. Sangeet Bhular was appointed to train staff and pupils in setting up skypes accounts and writing Bloggs, whilst Daniel Harris was appointed to work with the students filming them participating in everyday school activities, such as Bryn Bach Park, Duke of Edinburgh and attending work placements. Our links with Chilli will hopefully continue however, this project will be celebrated and completed at the end of March 2017.
