Greenfield School has developed an Outreach Service to support mainstream schools within the Local Authority of Merthyr Tydfil.
The overall aim of the service is to upskill staff; thus enabling them to provide pupils, including those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), with an enriching, positive and person centred educational experience. The Outreach service aims to increase the knowledge and understanding of the staff by embedding Positive Behaviour Support values, through a Person Centred Practice approach.
The nature of the Outreach support will vary according the needs of the pupils, the staff and the schools and may incorporate a number of elements including: advice; consultation; training; joint planning; modelling of techniques and strategies; assessment and individual or small group work with pupils or staff. This is achieved by:
- Providing accredited training event
- School to school work
- Sharing good practice from Greenfield
- Facilitating inclusion projects
The Outreach Service is committed to meeting the individual needs of pupils with ALN across the Authority in a collaborative partnership between Greenfield and the mainstream settings, while also ensuring that Greenfield School continues to be the hub of excellent practice and skills.
