The British Institute of Learning Disabilities - BILD

BILD was established in 1971 and has championed people with learning disabilities; it has been in the forefront of prompting and promoting improvements in good professional practice. BILD developed a comprehensive Code of Practice that all professionals should adopt when delivering any Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training to ensure that we, as professionals, have the best attitudes and skills to support our children and young people.  There are over 700 professional PBS training companies across Britain all of whom say they adopt BILD’s code of practice but in reality fewer than 50 have undergone the rigorous assessments required by BILD to award their quality mark of assurance.

Greenfield School is the first school in Great Britain to achieve BILD accreditation in conjunction with PROSPECT LTD for its training materials. Jon Hull is our lead consultant, with Carol Conway and Vicky Jefferson as Principle Trainers, the school has four In-service Trainers who lead Positive Behaviour Support training within our school and across the local authority.  We are immensely proud of this achievement which demonstrates our commitment to improving professional practice across Merthyr Tydfil to establish the best possible outcomes for our children and young people.
